What are you trying to do? Are you trying to use the ISO as the hard disk? If not, check that you don't have a corrupted download, by comparing the checksum of the file that you downloaded with the original. If in doubt, download the ISO again.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

Not from me. You have to check from where you downloaded the ISO.

I still get the problem after I've re-downloaded the file. Here is
https://www.ubuntu.com/download/server

where I downloaded the ISO files.

You didn't answer that part. Especially the first question.

Guess what, I got the same error:
ISO in HD slot error.PNG
ISO in HD slot error.PNG (27.05 KiB) Viewed 1668 times
If you can see the title of the attached picture you can see how I did it. I chose to add an existing Virtual Hard Disk file to the hard drive slot, then in the ensuing Select File dialog box I selected "All Files" in the file type filter so ISOs would show (ISOs are filtered out normally), then picked an ISO. Then I got the same error message as HuaMin.

ISO's are, of course, images of a CD or DVD, not of a hard drive.

HuaMin, you need to put the ISO in the CD drive, not the hard drive, as Socratis points out.

Thanks for the verification @scottgus1.

PS. BTW, I almost typed by accident scottgus2. When do you expect to be getting a promotion to level 2?
