Lenny on Server 2003 - Data not written

Postby kuhlmang » 9. Sep 2010, 20:34

Hello,

today we tried to bring up a Lenny guest on a Windows Server 2003 host.
We set up a new virtual machine and connected the existing vdmk file to it. the vdmk was build on WXP.
The guest starts but changes are not written to the virtual disk which resides on a 2 TB WD disk.
Logs show this:
00:00:35.974 EHCI: USB Operational
00:00:39.298 AHCI#0: Write at offset 5087819264 (4096 bytes left) returned rc=VERR_VD_VMDK_INVALID_WRITE
00:00:39.321 AHCI#0: Write at offset 5044147712 (4096 bytes left) returned rc=VERR_VD_VMDK_INVALID_WRITE
00:00:39.321 AHCI#0: Write at offset 8046933504 (4096 bytes left) returned rc=VERR_VD_VMDK_INVALID_WRITE
00:00:39.322 AHCI#0: Write at offset 5087823360 (45056 bytes left) returned rc=VERR_VD_VMDK_INVALID_WRITE
00:00:39.323 AHCI#0: Write at offset 5087872512 (237568 bytes left) returned rc=VERR_VD_VMDK_INVALID_WRITE
00:00:39.324 AHCI#0: Write at offset 5088110080 (4096 bytes left) returned rc=VERR_VD_VMDK_INVALID_WRITE

We then move to the internal c: drive which is a much smaler one (don't know the model)
The behavior is the same. We have a read only disk!

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Best regards
Gerd
