Windows XP vollständig sichern und in VirtualBox wieder einspielen

HuHu ins Forum,

ich habe schon ein wenig gelesen bin mir aber noch unsicher.
Ich muss einen Windows XP Platz (Software ist leider nicht updatefähig) vollständig sichern und auf einem neuen PC in VirtualBox wieder einspielen.
Wie und falls nötig mit welchen Tools würdet ihr da am besten vorgehen?

Ich freue mich schon jetzt auf eure Antworten und danke schon einmal im voraus.

Answering in English.

The procedure you mention is called "physical to virtual migration", or P2V for short. If you Google for "P2V XP site:forums.virtualbox.org" then you should find many previous discussions of the subject. Some perhaps even in German, or perhaps you speak English, and perhaps they can be understood once processed by a translation engine.

Erzeugt eine VHD Datei. Die kann VBOX verarbeiten.

Oder der hier:

Erzeugt eine VMDK Datei. Die kann VBOX ebenfalls verarbeiten.


Oder man wandelt die vmdk bzw. vhd Datei mit CloneVDI in eine VDI Datei um.


Falls die Endungen nichts sagen: VHD ist die virtuelle Disk von MS Hyper V/VirtualPC. VMDK ist VMWARE, VDI von VBOX.

Hat es denn irgendeinen Vor- oder Nachteil wenn ich die VHD nicht in VDI umwandele?

It is always best to use the native format of VirtualBox, i.e. VDI, if you want all functions to work. VMDK is a competent format, but it is not supported for all functions. VHD is a terrible, error prone format, and is not supported for all functions. VDI is a competent format and supports all functions.

If you ever needed the VDI to be in one of these other formats in the future, then nothing prevents you from cloning and converting the format again.
