Probleme mit der Gasterweiterung (VBoxGuestAdditions) - Optische Medien

Nach dem Update von Virtualbox 6.0.18 unter Ubuntu als Host habe
ich jetzt Virtualbox 7.0.4. Außerdem habe ich zwei VMs als Gast,
nämlich Windows 7 und Windows 10. Beim Update habe ich aber bei
der Gasterweiterung offensichtlich etwas falsch gemacht, denn bei
"Optische Medien" gibt es bei Windows 7 immer noch
"VBoxGuestAddition_6.0.18.iso". Mein Versuch, diese iso-Datei im
"Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager" mit "Löschen" zu entfernen, ging
leider nicht. Was muss ich tun?

This kind of error is normally caused by creating a snapshot or saved state while the disk image file is mounted, and then deleting or replacing the image file. Doing it with the Guest Additions ISO is a classic example of this. I don't use snapshots so I'm not sure of the exact remedy: but I would start by identifying the VM that is holding onto this image file. Then ideally discard the saved state or snapshot.

Ich habe zuerst den Sicherungspunkt gelöscht, in dem das iso-File
vorkam und dann diese iso-Datei im "Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager"
mit "Löschen" entfernt.

Perhaps the problem is with the translator, but snapshots are not backups: there is no redundancy, they do not cause data to be preserved against all possible damage, it simply provides a quick (but not fault tolerant) method for restoring an earlier state. The worst thing about snapshots is that damage to any element of the snapshot chain causes data to be lost from that plus all later elements. If you rely on snapshots then it is even more important to make real backups.

FWIW, "Sicherungspunkte" is the term that VirtualBox uses for snapshots in the German language. A literal translation would be "saving point", meaning the point in time that is saved and that can be restored later on.

O.k., das habe ich bisher wirklich anders verstanden. Und ja, das
interessiert mich. Danke. Ich dachte bisher, Sicherungspunkte sind
echte Sicherungskopien. Da das nicht so ist, habe ich im Forum ein
neues Thema eröffnet
