Gesamte Festplatte als gemeinsamer Ordner?

Post by Axel Ceh »

Hallo zusammen,

Axel

Nothing at all, assuming that you don't mind revealing the entire contents of your host drive to the Internet, and enjoy allowing any host exe or DLL to be infected by malware.

If these things are not desirable then only share a single folder (or anyway a small number), don't keep anything important in there, and certainly never keep executables there that might be later used on the host.

Danke!

The easiest way to disable Internet in a VM is to disable the virtual network cards.

However, even if you disable Internet now, sharing the entire host drive is still not a good idea, because who knows what you'll change in future. Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

I am also very new in VB, so I would like to ask, whether shared disks/directories do not need a working network-card? The shared directories are accessible as network-drivers, so in my understanding a working network-card is mandatory.

Guest Additions type shared folders do not require a network.

Ahhhh ... so there is a large difference between granting acess to other (shared) drives/directories via VB (means: The VM-sharing-adjustments and configuration) and via the "normal" network-feature of connecting to network-drives.

There are several differences between GA shared folders and network shares, but the important difference in this discussion is that GA shared folders are only seen by the VM, not by everything else on your host network. However there is no protection against malware in the VM.
