Win 11 Host Win XP Gast Bluescreen auf ZBook

Moin,

ich wollte unsere alte XP Maschine (wurde zuletzt auf einem HP Commpaq Elite 8300 Rechner mit Win 10 betrieben mit Virtualbox 7.0.6) auf meinem neunen Win 11 HP ZBook zum Laufen bringen. Leider wird beim Starten ein Bluescreen angezeigt, wenn ich nicht im abgesicherten Modus starte. Im abgesicherten Modus habe ich die aktuellen Gasterweiterungen installiert, aber trotzdem kommt beim normalen Systemstart wieder der Bluescreen.
Um weiter zu testen, habe ich auch mal eine komplett neue Gast-XP-Intsallation auf dem Notebook versucht, aber auch da bekomme ich einen Bluescreen, sobald das XP richtig starten will. Es schein ein generelles Treiberproblem zu sein. Ich habe es mit der aktuellsten Version von VirtualBox versucht (7.0.6) und mit der letzten 6er Version. Beide male mit gleichem Ergebnis. Ein Linux als Gast läuft ohne Probleme.
Ich hab den Bluescreen und das Log mal angehängt.
Hat jemand das Problem schon mal so gesehen oder eine Idee dazu?

There were some reports early on that 7.0 had trouble running XP VMs.

Can you try downgrading Virtualbox and Extension Pack to 6.1.42?

Latest I tried a complete new installation. I uninstalled Virtualbox and installed Version 6.1.42 and a new virtual XP. Installation of XP took several hours and after reboot again the blue screen appeared. Seems to be some hardware incompability with the notebook, but how can this be? Yesterday I also tried to install a Win 10 Guest. This went well and only took 20 minutes.

That's a driver crash. And since you presumably never got as far as installing the Guest Additions, that wouldn't be a VirtualBox driver.

I see no reason to assume this has anything to do with VirtualBox version. Where did this XP image come from?

I note for example that (a) the ISO name is "Win XP SP3.iso", and (b) XP never shipped with SP3, as Service Pack 3 only appeared years after XP stopped being available in retail channels. I surmise therefore that this is not an official install CD?

Btw, the "the install took hours" part is because Hyper-v is present and slows everything to a crawl.

Hyper-v can also interfere with VirtualBox, but I'm not sure it causes this crash. However, for how to eliminate Hyper-v properly, see HMR3Init: Attempting fall back to NEM (Hyper-V is active).

You are right about the XP SP3 edition. It is a recovery CD by HP for a Compaq PC. My problem is I do not have pure XP CD.
About the hyper-v: thank you for the input. I´ll try do deactivate it and see what it brings.

It is dangerous to use recovery CDs, especially from the XP era.

If you buy a retail XP or even a generic OEM XP then you can be sure that all hardware is supported, however that is not the case with a recovery CD bundled with branded hardware: that XP image didn't need to support any hardware except that which was present on the PC it was bundled with.

You can buy second hand generic XP installers from eBay. But you should of course avoid rescue CDs, upgrade CDs, and all branded CDs (HP, Dell etc).

Das Problem ist gelöst:
Es lag nicht an der Installations-CD von XP, sondern am Hyper-V. Das ließ sich einfach nicht abschließend deaktivieren, auch nicht mit Akku raus und so.

Das abschließende Ein- und Ausschalten der Sicherheitsfunktionen war entscheidend!

Dieser ganze Oracle Klimbims ist sowas von Verbuggt !
Da fängt es bei der Installation schon an !
Nur Bluescreens / lags / Ruckler / Friert ein und haste nicht gesehen....
Hyper V lässt sich auch nicht deaktivieren !
Hab da ein ganzes Wochenende dran gehangen . Nichts hat sich geändert !

Ganz ehrlich, ohne Werbung machen zu wollen gibt es weitaus bessere "Schlankare" Software die auf anhieb funktioniert ohne meine Tastatur / Google zu benutzen um nach
Lösungen zu suchen !
