Warum 'Python-core' und 'win32api' ??

Post by rainer b aus m »

Hallo Alle,
-> ICH BIN KEIN IT'ler !
Rainer

I believe the "a new version is available" dialog has a checkbox on it to suppress the dialog. I would check that checkbox. I would also turn off all update checks in the software preferences. Then in future you can manually check for new versions at your leisure.

It isn't clear to me whether these update messages are appearing on your host (your physical PC) or inside a VM. You also fail to mention what your host is (e.g. Windows PC, Linux PC, Apple MacOS).

As to the missing elements:
  • Clearly, if your XP VM runs without them then they are not needed.
  • You do not need Python - that is for people who want to control VirtualBox using scripts, and that doesn't sound like you.
  • I'm puzzled by the mention of "win32api". As far as I know VirtualBox doesn't use it, but if needed Win32 is the native API provided for applications to communicate with the OS on Windows hosts. All other APIs are built on this. So it can't be missing on a Windows host. So now we need to know what host you actually have. In particular we need to know that it isn't an M1/M2 Mac.

Hi,

Hi,
My PC runs on Win 10, and the update message is on my physical PC, whenever a new version of Virtual Box appears. Before 7.0 there was no asking for 'Python', thus my confusion. Seems not to be necessary - but I guess I am not the only one who is confused...

best regards, thansk for the help :)
