VMs starten nach Update nicht mehr
VMs starten nach Update nicht mehr
Habe Oracle Virtual Box auf Version 6.1.34 r150636 upgedatet.
Keine VM startet nach Virtual-Box Update mehr.
OS Win 10 Pro 64 21H2.
Fehlermeldung Virtual Box:
VirtualBox - Error In supR3HardenedWinReSp...
NtCreateFile(WeviceM/BoxDryStub) failed: 0xc0000034 STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND (0 retries) (rc=-101)
Make sure the kerne! module has been loaded successfully.
where: supR3HardenedWinReSpawn what: 3 VERR_OPEN_FAILED (-101) - File/Device open failed. Driver is probably stuck stopping/starting. Try 'sc.exe query vboxdrv' to get more information about its state. Rebooting may actually help.
Was kann ich tun?
Ich bitte um eure Hilfe.
Vielen Dank

Re: VMs starten nach Update nicht mehr
Please uninstall Virtualbox and reboot.
Go to "C:\Windows\System32\drivers", look for any files called 'Vbox*.sys' (there could be up to 5) and delete them.
Reboot again.
If you have any 3rd-party security or anti-malware software, disable the living daylights out of it for a moment.
Reinstall Virtualbox using right-click-Run-As-Administrator.

Re: VMs starten nach Update nicht mehr
Hello scottgus1,
thanks for the reply and advice
Found these files C:\Windows\System32\drivers:
VBoxNetAdp6
VBoxNetLwf
VBoxSup
VBoxUSB
VBoxUSBMon
When uninstalling and reinstalling VirtualBox, will the data and all VMs be preserved?
That would be my biggest concern if they were lost.
Does Virtual Box start with all existing VMs after a reinstall?
Do Windows VMs need to be re-enabled with Microsoft afterwards?
Could you please provide some more information on this.
Thank you very much

Re: VMs starten nach Update nicht mehr
Yes they will, though it's always a good idea to have restorable backups.Samuel37 wrote:When uninstalling and reinstalling VirtualBox, will the data and all VMs be preserved?
Assuming nothing goes wrong on the host PC, Yes, all VM's should still be available. (Reliable tested restorable Backups are the answer to possible host glitches at any time.)Samuel37 wrote:Does Virtual Box start with all existing VMs after a reinstall?
No. The activation codes are part of the VM's files, not the Virtualbox host program. Windows will remain activated.Samuel37 wrote:Do Windows VMs need to be re-enabled with Microsoft afterwards?
Re: VMs starten nach Update nicht mehr
Hello scottgus1,
I've gone through everything step by step.
The good news: the VMs are running again.
But there were problems:
The VBoxUSB file (USB driver) was not installed during the reinstallation. I had backed up VBoxUSB before uninstalling it and put it back in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers directory after reinstalling Virtual Box.
I also had to retrieve the deleted extension pack from the previous version because it could not be reinstalled.
I was shocked at first, but now every thing is fine again and it works.
Thanks again for your help

Gute Frage...
So "exotisch" ist meine Config eigentlich nicht:
- Win 10 Pro. 64bit 21H2
- Langzeit-Virtualbox-User
- Update von 6.1.32 via exe
- VirtualBox extensions intstalliert
- AV: Kaspersky KIS
- VS 2017/2019/2022 mit verschiedenen SDKs installiert
- CPU i3570k
- RAM 16 GB
Also nichts (vielleicht ausser Kaspersky) was irgendwie hervorsticht...

Also wenn
Fehler Error NtCreateFile(\Device\VBoxDrvStub) failed: 0xc0000034
dann
%PROGRAMFILES%\Oracle\VirtualBox\drivers\vboxsup\VBoxSup.inf
mit Adminrechten neu installieren,
sc start voboxsup
mit Adminrechten ausführen
und mit Adminrechten
shutdown -r -f

nikolasr75, I'm not sure about what the video recommended, but please try the suggestion in viewtopic.php?f=5&p=518490#p517915
