Lots of weird issues in Virtualbox for Chromebook/ChromeOS

Post by Ebony-angel »

Hello.
On my Chromebook with ChromeOs I have installed version 7 of VirtualBox.
I downloaded a .vdi with windows 8 but when I try to run it I get the following error:

Code: Select all

Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908)

The VirtualBox Linux kernel driver is either not loaded or not set up correctly. Please try setting it up again by executing

'/sbin/vboxconfig'

as root.

If your system has EFI Secure Boot enabled you may also need to sign the kernel modules (vboxdrv, vboxnetflt, vboxnetadp, vboxpci) before you can load them. Please see your Linux system's documentation for more information.

VM Name: win

I have tried /sbin/vboxconfig, but this happens to me:

There were problems setting up VirtualBox. To restart the set-up process, run
   /sbin/vboxconfig
as root. If your system is using EFI Secure Boot you may need to sign the
kernel modules (vboxdrv, vboxnetflt, vboxnetadp, vboxpci) before you can load
them. Please see your Linux system's documentation for more information.
I've also tried installing the latest kernel, but that doesn't work either.
How can I solve that?
Thnak you in advance.

Per the manual https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch01. ... tossupport ChromeOS is not a supported host. If the OS on the Chromebook is based on Linux, then there are Linux prerequisites for Virtualbox https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch02. ... nux-prereq

Try uninstalling, running the prerequisites, then installing official Virtualbox https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads
