you could try disabling mouse integration. press the 'Host' key. I believe that's the right control key for Linux hosts.

I take it pressing the 'Host' key didn't work?
FreeBSD needs its own version of the guest additions. Here is one explanation on how to install them. http://mwguy.us/?p=146 If you install them you won't need to disable mouse integration.

From the user manual :-philippe972 wrote:how disabling mouse integration ? have i to install VboxGuestAdditions ?
"FreeBSD Requires hardware virtualization to be enabled. Limited support. Guest Additions are
not available yet".
As Louis mentions, you may be able to find third party instructions for getting at least some GAs working, however that would remain unsupported.

I'm downloading FreeBSD 10.1 and will install it today and see what may be the problem. I'll reply later.

Re: Mouse blocked in FreeBSD 10.1 guest
I think I now know what the least user friendly Linux OS is. There is a lot I have to read even to start to check what the issue might be. I haven't even installed a GUI yet (didn't know it didn't come with one). Any way…
I did manage to get it installed without a GUI and I see the mouse gets swallowed up but on my Mac host, pressing the "Host" key does get my mouse back. As far as the black screen, how did you install the guest additions? If you used the second method from the link I posted you will have to go through and make sure all the config files are correct and there were no typos.
As mpack mentioned FreeBSD is not a supported guest so you might have better luck on the FreeBSD forum. I should have directed you there in the first place.

Ahem... no you don't. (BSD != Linux). In fact being derived from BSD is probably the main reason for a lack of support, since Linux is the mainstream Unix these days.loukingjr wrote:I think I now know what the least user friendly Linux OS is.

Yeah, Yeah Don. I know strictly speaking BSD is not Linux but lots of people think it is.mpack wrote:Ahem... no you don't. (BSD != Linux). It's somewhat ironic that OSX has much of its roots in BSD yet it is very friendly.
p.s. you need a ≠ symbol.
