Only works for me when ....

Under the "General" section, on the "Advanced" tab if I do not check
the boxes for IO APIC and VT-x/AMD-V.

If I enable VT, it will lock up at the boot menu. If I enable IO APIC, it
will boot up, but will quickly crash.

After all that, when I am cvsup'ing the new updates to move to 6.3, I
get a bus error about every 4-5 minutes.

I think I have the same issue. Installation stops at atkbdc initialization. I disabled keyboard initialization through devcies hints.

hints.atkbd.0.flags=0x10000

ok with the help of zatara I got it working:
Steps:
press spacebar to stop counter.
select option 6
enter set hint.atkbd.0.disabled=1
press enter then it boots

It's OK.

The keyboard is disable !!!
