Error: PNPBIOS - Checksum Error

Post by STDFJoshua »

I'm trying to load FreeBSD, MidnightBSD, & pfSense and none of them will load in VirtualBox. I keep getting the error saying that the PnP BIOS failed checksum.

Is this a flaw, something I've configured improperly, etc? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Do you have a link to an .iso to reproduce this bug?

You can get any ISO from any of the supporting sites easy enough. One thing I did think of was that I was trying to run VirtualBox inside of a Windows XP x86 SP2 that was running as a VMWare VM on ESX.

Could that be causing a problem, that is, is running a VM inside a VM a bad thing? I'm on a laptop now and will give it another go later today. We'll see what happens.

Of course this is a bad idea. Note that virtualization on x86 works with 'tricks' with every product on the market. You have to thank Intel and IBM for this. Therefore running a VM inside a VM will most probably not work.
