I just want to check in here and say that I have successfully installed eCS v2.1 on Suse 12.2 KDE host. The computer is an Dell Vostro 470, cpu is an i7.
I did not try to install a multicore configuration. Sound is a bit choppy and I might try one of the newer uniaud builds.

I was able to get eComStation 2.1 on Virtual Box after working through these issues:
1) DELL XP8700 32 Gig RAM, i7-4790, 3.6 GHz,
2) Memory - The Max memory I was able to configure and not have the VM stop is 1.9 Gig
3) Remove Hyper-V to unhide the Acceleration tab and the Enable VT-X/AMD-V checkbox. Was able to configure 2 CPUs
4) use the default hardware options to start the eCS Installer

Still need to fix Network and Sound when I get more time.

Sound is working with the default selections proposed by Virtual Box and by the eCS Guest.
