Setup:
HOST:
WinXPsp3 32-bit with VT (dual quad-core E5345 processors)
4 GB RAM
NVIDIA Quadro FX 3500 video card, 256 MB VRAM
VBox 2.2
ACPI, IO APIC, VT-x enabled
GUEST:
Solaris 10 u5 x86, 64-bit, 1498 MB RAM allocated, 128 MB VRAM
QUESTION:
The VM GUI will crash with fatal error when attempting to assign a host directory as a shared folder on either a running guest, or when the guest is not running from the main Vbox GUI. When the "other" option is selected from the drop-down menu on the "Folder Path" option in the "Add Share" dialog, the crash occurs.
Runtime error!
VirtualBox.exe
R6025
- pure virtual function call
I once successfully assigned the host folder, but 9 times out of 10 the entire GUI will fatally crash.
Vbox 2.2 - Fatal VM GUI error - shared folders
Re: Vbox 2.2 - Fatal VM GUI error - shared folders
I should add that once one has managed to select a host folder to be shared, everything appears to be stable, and the guest can mount and read/write to the shared folder as expected.

Re: Vbox 2.2 - Fatal VM GUI error - shared folders
It seems to be a problem with the Programm Version itself. I switched back to Version 2.1.4 and everything went fine.
By the way, you can get the older Versions here:
