Changing the model and manufacturer of the virtual machine

Post by Maciejej »

Hello

Is it possible to change the model and manufacturer of the virtual machine?

I have Android installed on VirtualBox as a virtual machine.
Some applications that communicate over the internet, I think send information about the model and manufacturer of the machine.
When it's not a known model and manufacturer, they don't allow me to perform further actions.
In my case it is as in the screenshot attached below.

I would like to change the "innotek GmbH" e.g. to Samsung and VirtualBox to Galaxy S6.

Android installed as Linux, so these data are in the files:
/sys/devices/virtual/dmi/id/sys_vendor – innotek GmbH
/sys/devices/virtual/dmi/id/procuct_name – VirtualBox
/sys/devices/virtual/dmi/id/board_name – VirtualBox

These files are read-only and even with root rights I cannot change them.
Anyway, that would already be a change once Android is running.

Search for "DMI" in the user manual.

However, I can't see much good coming from this. E.g. a Samsumg Galaxy S6 does not have an x86 processor.
