I am trying to install Netware 3.12.
I get past the DOS part of install ok but when it comes to creating the Netware partition, I get the following error:
other partition type relative sector 63 and size 205569 do not match the ending cylinder 50 head 63 and sector 63
If I understand this correctly it's a LBA problem but how do I get around it?
Any ideas?
I tried creating the partition using fdisk from MSDOS 6.22 but no joy.

Re: Netware 3.12 install problems
Ok made a fixed size 400meg drive and stil no joy. As soon as I reboot, it then says no netware partition yet boots to the DOS partition. The fixes made no dif either.

Re: Netware 3.12 install problems
And did you create a NetWare partition? Do you have a NetWare 3.12 installation manual and did you follow the steps described in it? Installing old NetWare is not exactly straightforward.
Re: Netware 3.12 install problems
yes and yes.
I create Netware partition. Start instal. Everything seems ok. When I reboot the Netware partition is un mountablel
Delete it and go around the loop again. Fine until reboot.
Whilst it is many years since I used to do this almost daily, As far as I can remember I am doing it correctly.
Always worth checking again though. No one is perfect.

Re: Netware 3.12 install problems
Out of ideas then, sorry.
I have at least two working NetWare 3.12 VMs. One has a 500MB IDE disk and uses the IDEATA.HAM driver version 4.15 (from 2004). I set it up too long ago to remember what I'd done though.

Re: Netware 3.12 install problems
I got hold of a NetWare 3.12 CD and could try this locally. Mine is revision F. What's your NW 3.12 revision, and are you installing from floppies or from a CD-ROM? Floppies vs. CD "shouldn't" make a difference but then again it might.
