[Fixed] VBox crashes when starting any VM on 10.14.4 MacBook Pro host

Hi,

ever since upgrading my MacBook Pro Late 2016 to macOS Beta 10.14.4 (current build: 18E205e) all my guest systems crash immediately after starting (I have Windows 7 64bit & Ubuntu 64bit guests). Disabling SIP did not solve the problem.

They do NOT crash when starting in headless mode.

I tried the most current VBox testing build today, the problem persists.

Very best wishes
Pete

We need to see a complete VBox.log, from a complete VM run, where the problem occurs:
  • Start the VM from cold-boot (not from a paused or saved state) / Observe problem / Shutdown the VM (force close it if you have to).
  • With the VM completely shut down (not paused or saved), right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager and select "Show Log".
  • Save only the first "VBox.log", ZIP it and attach it to your response. See the "Upload attachment" tab below the reply form.

Hello socratis,

unfortunately the current guest runs that crash don't create a log file. The "newest" logs I have are from the time before I updated to macOS Beta 10.14.4, sorry.

Very best wishes
Pete

You edited your message after I replied, that's why I asked for the log. In the initial revision, you only referred to the VM crashing, not VirtualBox crashing, that's quite different.

ZIP and attach the whole crash log, not just parts of it. Not that we are going to see for sure what's going on, but we certainly won't see anything with a partial log.

Hello,

many thanks for the feedback. After the crash, an error window is displayed with this text:

"Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Ubuntu.

The virtual machine 'Ubuntu' has terminated unexpectedly during startup because of signal 11.

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: MachineWrap
Interface: IMachine {5047460a-265d-4538-b23e-ddba5fb84976}"

The macOS crash log is attached.

I was able to solve the problem by re-installing macOS from recovery mode (without erasing the disc).

Currently VBox 6.0.9 r130868 works with macOS 10.14.5 (18F132).
