Can confirm 6.1.15-140463 works on 20221. No GSOD, guest lubuntu booted perfectly fine.

Unfortunately, this 6.1.15-140463 test build continued to send me to a green screen of death (GSOD) on the current Win10 x64 Insiders build 20221.

Are you absolutely sure you had that build installed? Compare below, and try again.

Compare in File Explorer, with this screenshot of mine, which shows "6.1.15.40463" for some of the files.
Maybe you can submit your image as proof, too.

Absolutely sure, I'm afraid. It's cut off from my image, but this is the full contents of C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox.

However, the error I'm encountering is different, and it appears others have had success in this thread, so I don't want to rain on the parade! I'll keep investigating, and can create a new topic for my issue to keep things clean.

I'm pretty sure that I got that UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP error when testing the previous Test Build, on the current Insider Build.
I don't know what else to tell you. Sorry it isn't working.

On my system, AMD 16GB, 64Bit, VB 6.1.15 140463 and W10 Insider 20221, it worked; success: My guest is there!
So, fingers primed and trained, when will 6.1.16 be released?
I assume that Microsoft need make no changes of their own....Hmm.. big assumption.

20215.rs_prerelease.200911-1500 with Virtualbox 6.1.15 r140463 is running my Ubuntu 20.04 guest A-OK.

Just wanted to chip in, I created an account just to report that i'm now getting the UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP crash, taking down the host immediately (Green screen of death)

I can't start any of my VMs without this crash (Windows, Linux...). Previously, I was affected by the KMODE_EXCEPTION_ERROR (taking down the host as well) some were reporting recently.

I uninstalled and re-installed cleanly version 6.1.1.4
The issue did not re-occur, however, I was seeing something else interesting:

I could not run steam on Mint LInux (Cinamon and Xfce versions 20) (Steam was complaining about my CPU being too old to run Steam (It is an I9-9900K))

If you're still having problems, can one of you start a new thread, named appropriately for the error you're getting, please?
Then both of you put details in that thread ... including your host CPU in case that matters?

I was just about to comment with good news! The latest test build, 6.1.15-140592, solved my UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP crash. Everything's working now!

"Thank you" to the Oracle devs... who are seeing these breakages, and proactively fixing them.
We "Dev Channel" Insiders are lucky that they give us their unofficial support!

Now get some good backup plans for future Insider issues
I triple boot my PCs between Dev/Beta/Release installs.
Not too hard to set up, and then you can switch as needed, while using Dev as daily driver unless it breaks something

The latest test build seems to have resolved the issue!

I got a few UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP crashes yesterday, but everything appears to be running smoothly at this moment with 6.1.15 build 140592.
