If the green tortoise is showing then Hyper-V is active on your host and VirtualBox tries to use the WinAPI for virtualization. Which is super-slow, hence the icon.

If Hyper-V is not enabled, then VirtualBox can run natively at normal speeds, hence using the traditional icon. The icons are in the status bar...

Ah, thanks, I didn't know that about the icons.

When I run the test on Oracle VirtualBox v6.0.5 Test Build 129665, with Hyper-V not installed, here is the pic I get, with a "V".
Curious that it mentions Hyper-V..

That's the paravirtualization interface, an API that's used by the guest to know that it's running inside a VM and adjust its behavior accordingly, mainly timing/timers. See ch. 10.4. Paravirtualization Providers for more information...
