I think there is a need to market the new major features.
• The network attachment type can be changed while a VM is running
Could have a name: "FlexiNetwork"
and • More flexible storage attachments: CD/DVD drives can be attached to arbitrary
storage controllers, and there can be more than one such drive (chapter 5, Virtual
storage, page 76)
Could have a name: "FlexiStorage"
What do you think of it?

Re: VirtualBox major new features -- Marketing
v2.0.x and v3.0.x should get a name - "LTS" releases. (or similar, if you dislike Ubuntu lingo)

Re: VirtualBox major new features -- Marketing
I'd label 2.0.x and 3.0.x as "prodution stable" rather than "LTS," as it doesn't imply any long-term support (which Sun may not want to provide).
I think most users are more concerned with new releases in a particular branch simply providing bug fixes, rather than introduce new features that may cause regressions (as the non-production-stable versions might).
