New features in 3.10 beta

Post by mpack »

I'll be downloading the beta when I get home this evening (UK time), but in the meantime I'd just like to say that as a volunteer here I am delighted to see improvements to the snapshots UI, and as a user I'm delighted to see support for 2D video acceleration (hardware video overlays etc). Much appreciated: these two have been on my personal wishlist for a long time.

Yes ! Great Work !

Congratulations for such a Feature-Rich release !

Personally I will probably use "Branched Snapshots" and "VirtIO". For some rare scenarios I may need 2 CD-ROMs.
"EFI' also looks interesting for pure scientific reasons - maybe later I will see some real value in it.
"Teleport" is the hardest feature to stabilize, but it is mostly useful for big enterprises; not for me anyways.

In the known problems:

"Snapshots of VMs with empty DVD attachments is broken"

Can you detail this a little bit? Does it mean if I have the CD/DVD mounted and no CD/DVD in the drive it will bork?
I usually unmount the drive when not actually using it so can I assume that will be alright?

Upgrade install went fine and so far I see no real problems. Graphics are cool too!
