Windows Media Player won't show video

Not a big deal, I was mostly trying to see why the Sims 3 movie was in blue. When I try to run a video (.wmv) in windows media player in Vista home premium 32 the sound plays but the video is blank (black). Not a big deal because I can always play the videos in my host os. My guess is the video is emulated so is too slow to show the video. Although for completeness it should probably work.
