vbox 3.0.0 beta: unable to run 3DMark2001 SE on MacOSX host

Postby rgalvan » 24. Jun 2009, 01:41

I'm using a MacBook host with the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M video card and Mac OS X version 10.5.7

I have upgraded vbox from 2.2.4 to 3.0.0 beta.

I'm using a Win XP guest created with vbox 2.1.4 and I have installed all the new guest additions, checking the directx box. I have enabled the 3D accelleration and I have reserved 64MB of video ram.

I was trying the new 3D features of vbox 3.0.0 running 3DMark2001 SE.

The program starts with the following message:

3DMark2001 SE was not able to detect the required minimun features in your 3D accellerator.
Please ensure your DirectX installation is working properly and that you have the proper drivers installed.

Then it crashes ...

vbox log:

WindowsXP-2009-06-24-01-08-27.log
(40.23 KiB) Downloaded 13 times

It seems that there is some problem with the guest additions.
Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug of vbox 3.0.0 ?

Thanks in advance for the help.

If you look here:
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=18853

...you see that I have 3D Mark 2001 up & running. So VBox 3.0 B1 is fine.

My recommendation: try something like TuxRacer (OpenGL game), and tell us if it works quickly or not...

I saw your topic, I know that it should work, but I'm not able to have it running ...

After some tests I think that the problem is the same of this topic:

My WinXP SP3 guest doesn't allow me to change the DirectX libraries, it always restores the original ones ...
Do you know a way to avoid this ?
