Ubuntu Linux Ultimate Edition 2.1 on VirtualBox 2.2 beta1

Post by plduus1959 »

Hi :-)

I am running VirtualBox 2.2.0 beta 1 as Host on Mac OS X 10.5.6, and My guest system is Ubuntu Linux Ultimate Edition 2.1 the 64 Bit version and Guest Additions has been correctly installed.

Compiz doesn't work at all in fact only the wallpaper of Gnome is shown not the Gnome Desktop when 3D Acceleration is turned on. This was the promise given by VirtualBox 2.2.0 beta 1 that if You used Linux it should run compiz and other 3D effects but it won't.

In the log it says fail for all OpenGL instances for the Nvidia GeForce 7600 GT on My iMac which has 128 MB of RAM, 3 GB system RAM. I use 64 MB RAM for video, 1 GB RAM for Ubuntu and 30GB HDD space for the VDI.

Does anyone know how to make it work, if so let me now about as a reply to this topic.

I might then get a clue to what is wrong in My given situation....

Kind regards
