Guest Additions 6.1.10 make X11 to crash

Post by biotec »

Hello,

I am running VBox 6.1.10 on a Linux host. Guest is also Linux (a current version of slackware with a recent kernel). Everything runs well without the guest additions. However, after adding the latest guest additions, the guest crashes just a fraction of a second after loading the X11 desktop. If I boot with guest additions in just text mode, I can work until I try to load the X11 desktop. I tried loading the guest with several kernel versions, but the guest crashes always at the same moment (right after loading X11).

I attach the log of a crashed session.

If I run VBox 6.1.10 but using older guest additions on the guest (eg 6.1.8), the desktop load normally, however seamless screen resize fails to do its job (no crashes, but the virtual desktop does not resize when I resize the machine screen).

Any help is appreciated.

You should change the Graphics Controller to VMSVGA, and the Video Memory to 128 MB.
