Ubuntu 20.04 freshly installed with guest additions on a Windows 10 host. Clicking on "Show Applications" demonstrates painfully slow performance loading up the application icons. I have 3D acceleration enabled, with maxed out (128MB) video RAM.

I noticed it too with VBox & Guest additions 6.1.8 + Ubuntu 20.04 guest w/ 3D enabled (VMSVGA). In my case the choppy rendering is only there when using the default X.Org session. Logging in with Wayland resolves it, and seems to render quickly. Apps are also opening faster.

However, I'm not too familiar with the current problems & limitations of Wayland on Ubuntu (not to mention with the additional variable of VBox) and am just starting to experiment with it.
