Ubuntu based VM not booting - Emergency Mode

Post by chrisx51 »

Hi forum,
i just made a bunch of attemps to get ubuntu based Linux distributions running in virtualbox. I already tried Mint, and now I am trying Ubuntu LTS 18.04.

After some reboots and apt-get update processes, I very quickly end up with an error message telling me I am in emergency mode.
The error message
The error message
2019-10-07 21_59_28-ubuntu (boot problem nach einrichtung) [Running] - Oracle VM VirtualBox.png (5.71 KiB) Viewed 3594 times
Luckily I just made a snapshot of a running system. But reseting this old snapshot also leads to the same error after shuttind down or reseting this virtualmachine!

Latest logs also attached, so every help is appreciated.
I am stuck :-|

Best regards
Christof

00:00:02.086982 NumCPUs <integer> = 0x0000000000000004 (4)
00:00:02.813516 CPUM: Physical host cores: 4
You have assigned all your CPUs to the VM. The host is going to run low on resources, since VirtualBox cares about physical processors (cores), not logical ones (threads).
00:00:02.087355 VMSVGA3dEnabled <integer> = 0x0000000000000000 (0)
00:00:02.087356 VMSVGAEnabled <integer> = 0x0000000000000001 (1)
00:00:02.087357 VMSVGAPciId <integer> = 0x0000000000000001 (1)
00:00:02.087357 VRamSize <integer> = 0x0000000003000000 (50 331 648, 48 MB)
Go to the VM Settings » Display » Screen. Enable 3D acceleration. Increase the VRAM to the max 128 MB.

But, the error comes from within the guest, it's not a VirtualBox problem as far as I can see...

PS. For future reference you should ZIP your logs. It helps you, it helps us, it helps the server, it helps save a (virtual) tree or two... ;)
