My development team has created a VM for our environment. I have imported it into VirtualBox but I get a kernel panic when I start it. I have created my own VM from an ISO and it runs fine so I know I can run VMs. (No BIOS issues etc.)
I have looked through the log but cannot see anything that looks like it would cause the problem. Any ideas? I read something about Guest VM that is created on another machine might have the wrong drivers?

We would need to as well. Zip and post it with the forum's Upload Attachment tab.mj231c wrote:I have looked through the log
Re: Kernel Panic on RedHat Guest VM
I have attached the logs.
As an added note. I downloaded the RedHat 7.7 ISO and tried to create another VM from the ISO. I get the menu to select Install or check image and install or Troubleshoot. This image kernel panics as soon as I pick any of the optios as well.

Re: Kernel Panic on RedHat Guest VM
Another added note, I downloaded the RedHat 8.1 ISO and it is working.
The common link here seems to be RedHat 7.7.

Re: Kernel Panic on RedHat Guest VM
I don't see an ISO here, all I see is a VM that's being restored at the 1.8" mark, and after 9" it gets shutdown...
Moving to "Linux Guests" from "Windows Hosts". It's worth taking a "walk" through that area of the forums to see if there's anything related...00:00:01.803297 Console: Machine state changed to 'Restoring' ... 00:00:09.576434 GUI: Request for close-action to power VM off.

Re: Kernel Panic on RedHat Guest VM
This worked. The VM will run now as will all of the RedHat 7 ISOs for bare install. It does give a bunch of errors about my I7 9th gen process not being supported but it pushes through and loads.
Thank you for your help. I never would have found this.
