This kernel hit the CentOS CR repository a week ago. Expect more users complaining!

Like me! Just hit this problem. It's happened before; I think last time I was lucky and a few days later an updated Guest Additions was released with a fix.

Is there a page on this site somewhere which I can use to decide when to apply red hat kernel updates, or VirtualBox updates, such that I don't cause problems such as these? Or is the only option to leave it to chance, and just hope that no problems will be caused?

@frappe
You could subscribe to the developer's mailing list (https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Mailing_lists). Usually that's where the patches are landing/being discussed. Developers love mailing lists. Not so much the forums... ;)

To save people wasting time, neither the general release 6.0.12 nor VBoxGuestAdditions_6.0.13-133126.iso test build ISO fixed the RHEL 7.7 build problem. Logged error unchanged.

Somebody filed a ticket about this, #18917. First post and thread title updated to reflect that...

Thanks,
I can verify that RHEL 7.7 VM works with VB 6.0.12-133076 and GA 6.0.13-133264

I confirm, too.

To get the VBoxGuestAdditions.iso, I downloaded VirtualBox-6.0-6.0.13_133347_el7-1.x86_64.rpm and extracted it thru 7-Zip (or use rpm2cpio + cpio).

Thanks!

Or you could have simply downloaded the Guest Additions ISO as a standalone download (VBoxGuestAdditions_6.0.13-133316.iso) and save you both the bandwidth and the extraction... ;)

I found it quite hard to google out specific GA build.
VBox Guest Additions 6.1.0 BETA1 worked fine in my case (with VirtualBox 6.0.12).

Specific test builds aside, usings GAs which are newer than the host software is a big no-no. All kinds of weird behaviour can result.

socratis says to use VBoxGuestAdditions_6.0.13-133316.iso, but I cannot find 6.0.13 anywhere on the virtualbox downloads pages. 6.0.12 is the latest non-Beta version I find.
Looked here: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads and https://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/.

Like Hrobky, I installed VBoxGuestAdditions_6.1.0_BETA1, and this has resolved my problems.

To answer mpack on using different versions of GA vs VBox, I am more or less forced to do this, and have for years without major issues. My company locks down my PC/Vbox version, which is 6.0.8. Every time Oracle releases a new version of CentOS it breaks my Guest additions, and I'm forced to install the latest version, which usually works once they have a release that fixes the display issues - Its almost always failure to support full screen.

Update: I did find 6.0.13 eventually in the test builds section https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Testbuilds. Here is a link to the file [ModEdit: removed link].

Please don't post links to the test builds. They have a lifespan that can range from minutes, up to a maximum of three weeks. It's best if the link goes to the test builds page, to get the latest and the greatest...

Thanks for the tip about trying the test builds. I just updated my CentOS 7 and RHEL 7 VMs last night and *both* of them stopped displaying full-screen because the Guest Additions for "6.0.4" were not working for VirtualBox 6.0.4. No updates to VirtualBox were available so I decided to try a "6.0.15" test build... and that indeed solved the problem for me.

I've been using VirtualBox for years and this is the first time I can recall having to use a higher release number for Guest Additions in order for them to work. Usually the VirtualBox and Guest Additions version numbers match each other on my machines.
