Audio device keeps dropping

Setup :
Windows 7 host
Fedora 30 Guest (fresh install--no major level upgrades)
16GB total system RAM, 8GB for host, 8GB for guest
dual screen VM
Virtual Box 6.0.8
using OS version of virtualbox guest additions, version 6.0.8
Using Intel HD audio controller
Graphic controller is VBoxSVGA with 3D acceleration and 128M of video memory
USB controller is xHCI

My problem is that whenever I try to play audio or video (youtube), the file does nothing *until* I go into the Vbox menu, remove the Audio Device from the USB menu, then re-enable the Audio device.

Once I do that, the video starts playing automatically, though it's not always the best quality.

I have tried using the ICH97 controller as well. No difference in results.

Any ideas on what is going on, and how to correct it?
