Win10HOST/Ubuntu18.04GUEST-Access Linux LVM Encrypted HDD In Linux Guest?

Hi,

I am running current VirtualBox on a Windows 10 Pro 64Bit host (fully updated) with an Ubuntu 18.04 LTS 64Bit Linux guest (fully updated).

I have a Linux LVM encrypted hard disk drive attached internally in the desktop.
How would I access the Linux LVM encrypted hard disk drive in the Ubuntu 18.04 LTS 64Bit guest?
(Windows 10/Ubuntu VirtualBox guest are installed to a different HDD attached internally)

Thanks!

Jesse

What desktop? What does "internally" mean?

Can you explain the setup better? I have a feeling that you're talking about an external hard drive, but you need to give us more details. A lot more details...

Sorry...
when I say "desktop", I mean computer tower (physical computer)
"internally" means HDD installed inside computer tower (physical computer)
It's not an "external hard drive".
Hope that clears some things up.

So, we're talking about an internal (SATA) hard drive on your host? A partition on the drive that you boot from? Or a second hard drive? What exactly are we talking about?

And what does that mean?

Describe the physical layout; how many HDs, how are they partitioned, what's running on what, what's using what...

I hope that clears up the questions...

The Linux LVM encrypted hard drive is a separate data HDD attached to the motherboard.
The computer has two hard drives: one HDD with Windows 10 native and then the second HDD with the Linux LVM encrypted data.

Just trying to access LVM encrypted HDD inside an Ubuntu Virtual Machine running on Windows 10 host.
The data accessed above would be shared between Windows 10 host and Ubuntu guest via "Shared Folder".

Before I forget, please read the notes at the bottom of your messages, plus the 2nd sentence of my signature... ;)

What you're looking at is called "Raw Disk Access", and it's an advanced feature. And because of the inherit danger of data loss, users are reluctant to give you advice. If you can't figure it out on your own, most probably nobody will help you with it.

For detailed information, see ch. 9.8.1 Using a Raw Host Hard Disk From a Guest from the User Manual.

That can't happen. The VirtualBox Shared Folders (VBoxSF) share a Host's directory, not a Guest's directory. Unless you plan to copy over the data from the Ubuntu guest into a Host's VBoxSF, the only other option would be to install the SMB server in your Ubuntu guest, and then map that SMB share from your Windows host. Doable...
