CentOS 6.9 on VBox 6.0.6 Guest Addition Fail

When installing guest additions I get the linker error as in the attached screenshot

Any remedies known ? Ultimately I want to mount a vboxsf share which remains impossible as guest additions install fails.

Kernel is 2.6.32-696.23.1.el6.x86_64

Have you considered upgrading to the current version for you guest OS?
For CentOS6 this is 6.10 (kernel 2.6.32-754.12.1.el6.x86_64)
and the guest additions for Vbox 6.0.6 build just fine with that one..
