https surfing not working in bridged mode

Post by j0el »

I am trying to troubleshoot why I cannot connect to htt ps websites from my guest VM on virtualbox using bridged mode.
Some info about my system:
- guest OS is Debian/ Kali, but other guest OS have the same issues
- host OS is Win10
- everything works fine if I connect the guest box to the NAT - although I need it on the bridged adapter, so I can ping for example other physical machines on my subnet
- it is not a browser issue: also returns

Code: Select all

curl: (35) OpenSSL SSL_connect: SSL_ERROR_SYSCALL in connection to www[dot]google[dot]com: 443
while doing the same against plain htt p (not htt ps) returns the google page
- ping google[dot]com works
- I get an IP address on the same subnet as the host (192 168 1 x)
- bridging over wifi card (Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265) or ethernet (Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (5) I219-V) has same issue
- bridging over a different wifi card (TP-Link TL-WN722N on usb) works

How else can I try to fix this?
