Hi Friends,
I want to install a Debian OVA on OVB(OracleVirtualBox) which is installed on a Virtual machine.
Below is the problem statement:
1. An IP is not assigned for my guest, when OVB is installed on a Virtual Machine.
When i do the same on a desktop/laptop, i get an ip assigned to my debian guest.
Can someone help me resolve the issue?
Thanks,
Chandra.

Are you trying to run a VM inside a VM? Nested virtualization?Chandra117 wrote:when OVB is installed on a Virtual Machine
That's something really new and for the moment only VirtualBox running inside VirtualBox is supported. And that is only supported if your host's CPU is an AMD one. Do you have all these criteria covered?

Exactly! Is it not technically possible?socratis wrote:Are you trying to run a VM inside a VM? Nested virtualization?
Host is a windows 7 VM, with Intel Xenon Processor.socratis wrote:And that is only supported if your host's CPU is an AMD one

Then you'll have to wait. Right now nested virtualization is only supported on AMD CPUs, as I've already stated.Chandra117 wrote:Host is a windows 7 VM, with Intel Xenon Processor.

Re: [NotSupported] Debian Ova ON OracleVirtualBox ON VirtualMachine.
Not the slightest idea!
I'm on an Intel (3 actually) system myself and my main host (OSX) can't even run DOS as a nested VM, other host OSes can. I was seriously contemplating getting an AMD system just for that!
I wish I knew, but the developers (for good reasons) never talk about 1) release dates, 2) specific features that are going to make it into a release or not.
