Hi all,
I've just installed Fedora 29 on VirtualBox 5.2.20 running on a Windows 7 host. I also installed Guest Additions, just to be on the safe side, as I know that Fedora comes with at least some of the drivers required, but maybe not all.
When I change to full-screen mode, the VirtualBox window does indeed go into full-screen mode, but the guest's screen stays very small (800x600, or sometimes ~1300x728), centered, with a large black area around it. The host has 1920x1080 resolution.
Actually, right after the installation, it sometimes (randomly) went correctly into full-screen mode (the guest screen itself was full-screen), sometimes not, but now it just never gets it right.
Attached is the log file. Any help will be appreciated.
Joao

I got it to work!
I went to machine settings, display, graphics controller and set it to "VBoxVGA".
As a note, I got it to work on vanilla Fedora 29 which comes with
sudo /usr/sbin/VBoxService --version
5.2.18_Fedorar123745

Re: Fedora 29 screen does not resize in full-screen mode
You should definitely uninstall these and install the ones that come bundled with VirtualBox. With the VM window having the focus (in windowed mode, not full-screen), go to the menu "Devices" » "Insert GAs CD Image..." » follow the prompts, watch for error messages, act upon the error messages accordingly.Leo Ufimtsev wrote:5.2.18_Fedorar123745
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

It worked. I spent hours trying different things on Fedora 31, but this option solved the problem easily. Thanks.Leo Ufimtsev wrote:I got it to work!
