1. Create a 64 bit VM with Ubuntu 14.04 on a system with
OS: Windows 7 pro 64 bit,
CPU : Core i5 480m,
GPU : ATi Mobility Radeon 545v
2. Exported the VM
3. Imported the VM on a system with the following specs :
OS: Windows 10 Pro
CPU : Ryzen 5 2500U
GPU : Radeon RX 560X
Problem : Upon logging in, the desktop shows up for a second, followed briefly by a black screen with some error message, before the login screen reloads.
Looking at the lightdm log files reveals that the authentication occurs without any issue, and the session starts. However, the session stops almost immediately after, and the login screen restarts.
I tried the following steps without any success :
1. Delete XAuthority
2. Delete ICEAuthority
3. Uninstall Guest Additions
4. Install Guest Additions
Then tried the following which worked :
Enable 3D Accelaration.
With 3D Accelaration enabled, I am able to login, though the entire screen turns blank before showing me the desktop.
However, by running
Code: Select all
/usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test -p
Why then is the login loop occurring without 3D Accelaration ?
