no space left on root filesystem, but there is

Post by smaring »

I'm running 5.2.14 on Windows with CentOS 7 installed as guest.

While pulling down some docker images, the process fails, telling me that there's no space left on the device. Just before this happens, I will get a popup on the window manager letting me know 'Low Disk Space on "Filesystem root" ...

If I "examine", it does kinda look like root is full at about 29GB

The command-line, however, is telling me that I've used 31GB and that I've still got 20GB available

The dynamically allocated vdi storage device has a virtual size of 500GB, only 16GB of which is actually used.

What the heck is going on here?

Why are you asking here? I see no mention of VirtualBox in your question.

You have a support question about your Linux OS. I suggest that you ask it in a Linux support site. VirtualBox does not control how a guest OS uses the available disk space.
