[Resolved] ubuntu installation stuck and only black screen is seen (#17788)
[ModEdit; related ticket: #17788: ubuntu installation stuck and only black screen is seen]
I had already logged a ticket in bug tracker and here is the ticket number - Ticket 17788.
1) Installed VirtualBox-5.1.38-122592-Win on Winows10
2) Then trying to install and bring up ubuntu-17.04-desktop-i386 as the guest OS
3) iso image is selected
4) Installation is hung
Additional info: 1) Used VB 5.2 and ubuntu16.04, but same result. 2) Both 3D & 2D accelerations are disabled
I herewith attach VBox.log and VBoxSVC.log
Appreciate your help to resolve the issue. I want to bring up Ubuntu VM in my personal laptop (x86/windows10)

You have allocated memory to the guest that you don't have available on the host. Your options are: a) allocate less memory to the guest, b) close some applications on the host, or c) buy some more memory for the host. In the first instance, I would set the RAM to 1GB and up the video memory to 128MB. You will still be pushing the limits of what is acceptable but at least you won't be overcommitting.VBox.log wrote:00:00:02.797082 Host RAM: 4027MB (3.9GB) total, 1611MB available 00:00:03.009853 RamSize <integer> = 0x00000000a0000000 (2 684 354 560, 2 560 MB, 2 GB) 00:00:03.010285 VRamSize <integer> = 0x0000000001000000 (16 777 216, 16 MB)
You need to enable VT-x support in the BIOS as your Intel i3-4005U processor definitely supports it. See your PC's manufacturer help on how to do this. Also, make sure that nothing else has an exclusive hold on the VT-x.VBox.log wrote:00:00:03.010552 HM: HMR3Init: Falling back to raw-mode: VT-x is disabled in the BIOS for all CPU modes
-Andy.
My crystal ball is currently broken. If you want assistance you are going to have to give me all of the necessary information.
Please don't ask me to do your homework for you, I have more than enough of my own things to do.
