Linux Mint 18.3 How to update virtualbox 5.1.2 -> 5.2.8

Hi there can someone please help me on how to update virtualbox on Mint 18.3? When I try to update to the new version I get the following error:

'Error: Breaks existing package 'virtualbox.5-1' that conflict: 'virtualbox'. But the '/home/user/Downloads/virtualbox-5.2_5.2.8-121009_Ubuntu_xenial_amd64.deb' provides it via: 'virtualbox'

This is the first time I try to update virtualbox on linux. I have a windows 10 virtual machine running. Any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you

I am using VirtuaBox 5.1.26 trying to upgrade to 5.2.8
