[WorksForMe] Ubuntu 17.10 boot stuck

Post by arkady_renko »

Hi all,

I am trying to run Ubuntu 17.10 vm on Win 7 64 bit but vm stuck and can not see the login page.

Host laptop has 16 gb ram. VM has 8GB.

Enabling or disabling 3D acceleration didn't affect.

What can I do now ?

I am using Virtual box 5.2.8 and updated extension package.

Thanks.

Provide the VBox.log file for the guest (zipped of course) and then we can see if there is anything going on there that might be causing this problem.

Equally, you may want to use your favourite search engine to see if there is anything there about Ubuntu getting stuck at this point - just because you have a problem with a VM guest doesn't automatically make it a VirtualBox problem. Sometimes, things don't work on physical hardware too!

I already attached zipped vbox.log file.
I googled the problem and couldn't find any solution then decided to ask here.

Where did you get this VM from? Did you install it from scratch, from the ISO? If not (which I suspect), please try from scratch.
00:00:01.055404 File system of 'C:\Users\emehsez\VirtualBox VMs\development-vm\emehsez-dev-disk002.vmdk' is ntfs
Care to explain the name of the attached virtual hard drive?
00:00:12.185395 VMMDev: Guest Additions information report: Version 5.2.6 r120293 '5.2.6'
Also when did these get installed?
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

This vm consists ready development environment with docker, git, java. My colleague prepared his own laptop. After your message I installed fresh Ubuntu from iso file. Now it seems OK.
Thanks for your suggestion.
