Re: Oracle Linux Kernel 4.1.12 Video drivers not working
The "vboxadd-setup.log" and the "Xorg.0.log" might be useful, but I need to see the VBox.log.
Follow a "start the VM from cold-boot" / "observe error" / "shutdown the VM" cycle. With the VM completely shut down (not paused or saved), right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager and select "Show Log". Save only the first "VBox.log", ZIP it and attach it to your response (see the "Upload attachment" tab below the reply form).

Not really. Your GAs have not been updated:JiF_Brodeur wrote:Hi, I tested the very latest build of VB 5.2.7 r120866 with latest extpack and GA

Re: Oracle Linux Kernel 4.1.12 Video drivers not working
This probably isn't the cause of your problem, but...
-Andy.
You are committing more RAM to the guest than you have available on the host. You should reduce the RAM allocated to the guest to 4GB.VBox.log wrote:00:00:01.412490 Host RAM: 16384MB (16.0GB) total, 5806MB (5.6GB) available 00:00:01.568638 RamSize <integer> = 0x0000000200000000 (8 589 934 592, 8 192 MB, 8.0 GB) 00:00:01.568977 VRamSize <integer> = 0x0000000008000000 (134 217 728, 128 MB)
The i7-2635QM has four physical cores which are hyper-threaded. VirtualBox uses physical cores and so you should reduce the number allocated to the guest to be 2.VBox.log wrote:00:00:01.835120 CPUM: Logical host processors: 8 present, 8 max, 8 online, online mask: 00000000000000ff 00:00:01.835125 CPUM: Physical host cores: 4 00:00:01.648519 PcBios: [SMP] BIOS with 4 CPUs

My crystal ball is currently broken. If you want assistance you are going to have to give me all of the necessary information.

You didn't do a cold start in the new VBox.log, something that doesn't show us the installed GAs version. Please try again...socratis wrote:Follow a "start the VM from cold-boot" / "observe error" / "shutdown the VM" cycle. Hi Socratis, I think I have it right this time lol but I check my GA
[oracle@localhost oracle]$ lsmod | grep -io vboxguest | xargs modinfo | grep -iw version
version: 5.2.8 r121009
but in any case here is the new log.
Thanks for your help

Re: Oracle Linux Kernel 4.1.12 Video drivers not working
Thanks Jean-François, the VBox.log doesn't show any problems.
- Did you try to change the size from within the guest?
- In VirtualBox preferences » Display » Maximum Guest Screen Size, is that set to Automatic?

Re: Oracle Linux Kernel 4.1.12 Video drivers not working
Hi Socratis, true on both count. Included is the GA install log which clearly states that there are problems, and X.org.0.log seems to suggest that most resolution do not work included are the files. I will also download a new Oracle developer day fresh run the update and then try to install the GA. I will keep you posted.
Thanks for your help

Re: Oracle Linux Kernel 4.1.12 Video drivers not working
Hi, the steps to reproduce are easy:
1. Download the latest version of Oracle Developer Day VM from June 2017 (the latest avail.) at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/datab ... 61299.html
2. Import the VM & logon as oracle then sudo yum update.
3. Update the GA to the latest version
4. Reboot and voilà the video driver is broken..
Thanks
Jean-Frs

Re: Oracle Linux Kernel 4.1.12 Video drivers not working
I can confirm the situation.
It might be some configuration that needs to be tweaked, but I don't know enough about OL to fix it...
