Drag and drop issues

Post by Fr0zt »

I am using virtualbox 5.2.6 r120293, in my host (Windows 10 Enterprise 64 bits). I created a VM with ubuntu 16.04.2.

I installed Guest Additions and enabled drag and drop (bidirectional).

I can drag and drop from guest to host, however I cannot drag and drop from host to guest. It's quite annoying, if I want to copy a file from my host to my guest (ubuntu) and I am unable to do it.

Can anyone help me please.

PS: The log is in attachment.
I tried to copy a folder from guest into host and it's ok.
I tried to copy a file from host into guest, and nothing happens.

You have DnD disabled in the VM settings, so how exactly do you expect it to work? I'm not sure how you got it to work from the guest to the host...

Not only you have some older GAs installed, but they're the Ubuntu fork (_Ubuntu). You need to uninstall them and install the GAs that come bundled with VirtualBox.

Moving to "Linux guests" from "Windows Hosts".
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

It's strange, but:

1- I have drag and drop enabled.
(Devices - Drag and Drop - Bidereccional).
I don't know why the log is like that.

2- Guest Additions were installed directly from Virtualbox.

So I don't know why that log is like that.

I will try to do what you said and reply if it worked.

Thanks.
