Hi all,
on a new Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 370 I have installed a vbox
under Windows 10. Inside the virtual box I run a Debian.
In order to so I had to make a change in the BIOS.
Guest tools are installed. So in the menu of the virtual
box the Button for automatic adjustment for guest display
is no longer greyed.
Non-the-less the display of the debian, i.e. the vbox,
is painful for the eyes after a while.
The monitor resolution is 1920 x 1080 under Windows
as well as in the vbox setings.
Can you help me how to configure the dnisplay ?
Any hints, info would be great
debian / Xserver ?
Thanks in advance!
Best,
Thorwald

Re: Display settings
This doesn't seem to be a question about the host. Moving the topic to "Linux Guests".
Please provide a VM log file. With the VM fully shut down, right click it in the GUI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" (ONLY) to a zip file. Attach the zip here.

Re: Display settings
Your VirtualBox version is rather old. If you want to use the latest version for your host/guests, you should also consider doing the same for VirtualBox. As of this writing, that would be version 5.2.6. If that doesn't work you should try the latest test builds, especially with all the Spectre/Meltdown patches coming in from all sides.VirtualBox VM 5.2.0 r118431 win.amd64 (Oct 18 2017 06:24:56) release log
Your guest additions are not only old, they are from Debian. (the "_Debian" part). You'll need to uninstall them and install the ones that come bundled with VirtualBox. And keep them updated every time you update your main VirtualBox program. For more details, see ch. 4.2 of the User Manual...00:00:20.508484 VMMDev: Guest Log: VBoxService 5.2.2_Debian r119230 (verbosity: 0) linux.amd64 (Nov 25 2017 08:59:58) release log
