Shared folders not showing up
Shared folders not showing up
I have set up a shared folder by using the menu option under Devices/Settings. I have set auto mount and full access. However, it does not show up in the files manager. I am using Virtual Box Version 5.1.28 r117968 (Qt5.6.2) and Ubuntu 17.04

Re: Shared folders not showing up
Not a question about your host. Moving this topic to "Linux Guests".
Look for the shared folder in the SAMBA network neighborhood, under the "Vboxsvr" branch. I'm not a Linux user so I can't tell you any more than that.
If you continue to have problems then post a VM log file. With the VM fully shut down, right click it in the GUI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" (ONLY) to a zip file. Attach the zip here.

Re: Shared folders not showing up
Automatic shared folder in a Linux guest is slightly different. First you must be a member of the vboxsf group on the guest (reboot required), and secondly the automounted shared folder will show up in the media folder. Be cautious though. If the host is Windows you might find permission issues with the share. This can be corrected by using a manual mount with read write options.
