Keyboard stops responding

Post by bryanmc »

Host: Debian 9.0.1 64 bit
Guest: Slackware 14.2 64 bit (guest additions installed)
VB version: 5.1.26 r117224 (Qt5.7.1)

After a while of surfing the web using the mouse only, I may come to a place where some text entry is required and find that the keyboard does not respond to input. The only way to get the keyboard to start responding is to restart the guest, although I haven't tried just logging all the way out of X11 and the user account and logging back in (I'll try that the next time the problem occurs and add the info here). At this point I'm not sure if it's a VB issue or a Slackware issue. I run two other guests (Fedora 26 and LMDE 2 and haven't had the issue in those machines).

Any ideas on where to start chasing this would be appreciated. Log file attached.

Next time it happens, try typing the control / alt / shift keys to see if the kbd is stuck in a shifted state. Sometimes a key up event can get lost - it probably depends on the guest. Key downs can get lost too, but that's less of an issue.

Also make sure your VM doesn't create any blank USB filters.
