Debian 9 background issues

Thanks for all your help. I'll try upgrading the video driver (although I have seen some chatter on the Mint forum that there are some issues with 375). The confusing parts to me are why did Debian 8.xx not have the issue and why does a reboot clear the issue that persists on a cold start? I may try to get it spelled out understandably and submit it, but since it seems to affect such a minute percentage of installs, I don't imagine they'll devote too much thought to it.

I understand, but if no one pursues this with the DEVs it will never get addressed if there is a conflict that needs to be taken care of. And to address the Mint and nVidia drivers, I have no issue what so ever, so I can not substantiate that there is an issue with the driver.

Upped the video driver to 375 (just to check) and the problem persists.
