I have fedora 24 installed as the guest os with guest additoins installed. The mouse scrollwheel is inverted and I cannot find a way to change this.
Here's what I tried:
1. I tried the "natural scrolling" setting in the mouse settings (in gnome classic), but that did not change it.
2. I also tried adding a config file in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/ for the mouse, but that did not work.
3. I tried creating an .Xmodmap in the ~/ directory with various orderings of the digits, but that didn't work:
pointer 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12
pointer 1 2 3 5 4 6 7 8 9 10 11 12
pointer 1 2 3 5 4 7 6 8 9 10 11 12
Has anyone else had this problem? I would greatly appreciate a fix for this, because this is very frustrating.

The same issue with debian stretch, suddenly after system update mouse is inverted, this appears on two different machines, one with Windows as host and other with Debian stretch as host.

Same problem here with VirtualBox 5.1 and Fedora 24.

Same problem. I only found a solution on firefox. Did you find any correction?
Firefox: mousewheel.default.delta_multiplier_y change the value from 100 to -100
