PPTP VPN connection in a (bridged) Kali Linux 2.4 VM

Post by sirtadels »

Hi, im a relatively new user to linux and virtualization software such as virtualbox, so im kind of confused as to how to configure my networking settings for the vm im using (kali linux 2.4), my host OS is a linux mint 17.3 desktop machine, in which ive successfully set up my vpn connection, (i personally use strongvpn), my question is related to the kind of adapter the VM should have, when i set it in NAT, the vm connects through my host machine and thus, through my vpn, but with a NAT connection i have some sort of restricted access to some networking needs,( cant correctly launch nmap host discovery or other tools of this kind), and the VM doesnt seem to recognize my local network the way it does in a bridged connection. But when i try to setup the vpn and connect from the VM directly,(in bridged connection setting) the same settings that work on my host dont seem to take effect, technically nothing happens. I use these settings for connecting in the host machine:
pty "pptp serveradress --nolaunchpppd --debug"
name username
password pass
remotename PPTP
require-mppe-128
require-mschap-v2
refuse-eap
refuse-pap
refuse-chap
refuse-mschap
noauth
debug
persist
maxfail 0
defaultroute
replacedefaultroute
usepeerdns
