When trying to install the new version of Virtualbox (5.0 ) from the .deb package by the Ubuntu Software Center, I get the error:
" Breaks existing package 'virtualbox-4.3' that conflict: 'virtualbox'. But the 'virtualbox-5.0_5.0.10-104061~Ubuntu~trusty_i386.deb' provides it via: 'virtualbox' "
And the installation process stops.
I always installed the new version of virtualbox upon the old one by the software centre without any trouble, Now I can't understand that naming problem!

Remove the existing version and then install the new version. Personally I hate the software center and use gdebi instead.

Re: strange error with new Vbox version
As Perry alluded to, the Ubuntu Software Center has been buggy since its inception. The last I read Canonical is dropping it in favor of Gnome Software starting with Ubuntu 16.04.

Re: strange error with new Vbox version
Thank you for reply, but with GDebi I get exactly the same error message.
I tried to uninstall (with Ubuntu software centre) the previous version but with no avail...
Is it possible to use GDebi for uninstall as well?

Re: strange error with new Vbox version
I would start by using the software center to remove what you have now, then reboot and use gdebi to install the new version.
Normally I use CLI but most users are not comfortable using command line.

OK Perryg, I did as you said and Virtualbox 5.0 in now installed (together with its Extension pack) and working.
Thank you.
Thank you.
