Hello,
I have a funny problem with Ubuntu 14.10 LiveCD in a VirtualBox VM. I guess it has already been reported, but it's difficult to really pinpoint the culprit. I've searched the forum, but haven't found anything related to my problem.
Here goes, whenever I want to load Ubuntu 14.10 LiveCD (so I can install Ubuntu in a VM), it crashes. I get a black rectangular window. If I move the mouse cursor, I will eventually see a big, pixalated arrow. See screenshot. I've tried many configuration: changed the HD from default SATA to SCSI or SAS; set more RAM (1536 instead of 512MB); set 128MB of graphic memory...
I've uploaded my VBox.log file. Looking inside it, I think the problem is this event "00:00:35.265058 UIFrameBufferQImage::resizeEvent: Resizing to FALLBACK buffer due to format is invalid..", but why? It used to work... I also added 2 screenshots: the first is my VM config and the second one, the arrow I told you about.
If you need more information, please ask!
Thanks in advance!

For future references only.
I had to disable the option "Enable Nested Paging" in System / Acceleration.

Re: LiveCD not working anymore
Nice catch! Thanks for that. Hopefully, it's going to be fixed by the next VBox release.

Re: LiveCD not working anymore
I wonder why this is under Linux Hosts.
Edit: pressing Host+F1 followed by Host+F7 should work as well.

FWIW, the same thing happens on a OSX host running the VB 4.3.25_r98815 test build. Using the aforementioned key combo works.
There is a new OSX test build. I'll check that shortly.
Edit: OSX VB 4.3.25_r98882, same symptom.

Yep. Same issue. I checked the md5 of my Ubuntu 14.10 iso, and it matched. Making a new virtual machine, the effect shown in the video below happens. Apparently, the top left of the screen allows my mouse to be shown in a really weird glitch style.

I'm on the latest build, Windows 8.1 host.
After I "disabled the option 'Enable Nested Paging' in System / Acceleration.", there were still some errors thrown up on the screen (shown in the video), but the final glitch-state was avoided, and I was able to install Ubuntu.
Switching to tty1 and then back to tty7 also worked, as suggested (although, that's ctrl-alt-f1, ctrl-alt-f7)
